The Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC is pronounced juicy) had it roots in meetups formed around SXSW in Austin, Texas USA. In 2011 a startup called Loosecubes produced a half day “Coworking Unconference” in Austin.
In the summer of 2010 Liz Elam was asked to take over the Unconference. She rebranded it GCUC in an ode to Stephen Colbert and never looked back.
In 2012 and 2013 GCUC was hosted in Austin but being close to SXSW was a challenge and the attendees were anxious to explore new cities so in 2014 GCCU moved to Kansas City, MO. In the fall of 2014 GCUC announced that they In were expanding to fit their name. GCUC Australia will be in Sydney June 4th and 5th! In 2015 GCUC USA will be on the move again this time heading to Berkeley, California USA on May 6th-8th.
GCUC explores and supports the Coworking movement. At GCUC attendees will learn about design, technology, community, marketing, branding, real estate and financing. We’ll dive into new research on the industry and debate the future of work. Sounds like alot? Well it is but we’ll pull it off in an inspiring space surrounded by industry leaders. You should join us.
